The 10 Best Smartphones of 2018

Well well well, it is that time of the year where we will discuss which smartphones didn't suck and made it to the top 10 list. Let me tell you guys first, it was not an easy task because there were a lot of good phones from different Chinese brands. They delivered a lot of good phones at a reasonable price, but I manage to choose my top 10 smartphones of 2018 based on-

• Performance
• Speed
• Camera
• Battery life and
• Screen quality

All ten phones are excellent and certain aspects make them a possible contender for the top 10 list. Let's begin-



10. Samsung Galaxy Note 9

Price: Starts at $999.99

This phone was released in August 2018. As you can see the price of the phone is really high, the reason behind is simple, it is the highest premium phone of Samsung. It has a huge battery, 4000 mAh. The phone is a bit heavy, weight 205g. Screen size 6.4 inch. As it is a big phone with a big screen, the performance of the phone has to be really good too and guess what, the performance is really good. It comes with a 6GB and an 8GB ram. Storage of this phone starts at 128GB up to 1TB with an sd card (WOW!). 

Now the camera, it has two lenses at the back, both are 12 MP. The front-facing camera is 8MP. 

9. The LG G7 ThinQ

Price: Starts at $555

This phone was released in May 2018. Screen size 6.1-inch and the resolution is 1440 x 3120. LG's Super Bright screen isn't OLED, they used LCD. The battery life of this phone isn't great, it's "okay". The 3000 mAh will only last you around a day.

It has a pretty good CPU, Snapdragon 845. RAM 4/6GB with storage 64GB/128GB. So you can play high-resolution games on this phone and it is also good for multi-tasking.

The best part of this phone is the camera. It has two lenses at the back, both are 16 MP. The second rear camera has a true wide angle lens which is great for landscape. The telephoto lens works great when it comes to taking close distance pictures.

8. Huawei P20 Pro

Price: Starts at $735

It is no doubt an excellent flagship smartphone with a triple camera set up at the back. This phone was released in April 2018. It got a lot of attention from people around the world because of its triple camera at the back. I am talking a lot about this phone's camera because at the rear side it has a total of 68MP triple camera ( 40 + 20 + 8MP ).

The weight of the phone is only 180g. The size of the screen is 6.1-inch with a resolution of 1080 x 2240.

The phone has a 6GB RAM with Kirin 970 CPU, that means this phone is really fast. Performance of this phone is top-notch. It also has an amazing battery, which is 4000 mAh.

7. iPhone XR

Price: Starts at $749

This is definitely the latest and cheapest iPhone you can buy right now. Apple wanted to give something to its customers within a reasonable price and they did not disappoint. iPhone XR is an excellent phone, performance is great, really handy and also it comes with an attractive array of colors. It was released in October and has the latest iOS 12. Apple used A12 bionic chip and a 3GB RAM in this phone, that means this phone is pretty fast and smooth. 

This phone comes with the 64/128/256GB storage system. It has a 6.1-inch display with a battery power of less than 3000 mAh.

It does not have a dual camera at the back, the rear camera is 12MP and the front camera is 7MP. 

6. Samsung Galaxy S9

Price: Starts at $603

This phone was released in March 2018, it is the flagship phone of Samsung. It has Snapdragon 845 processor with 4 GB. So you can expect a really good performance from this phone.

Like iPhone XR this phone does not have a dual camera system at the back, but it does have a fingerprint sensor at the back. The rear camera is 12MP and the front camera is 8MP.

It also comes with a 5.8-inch infinity display with a powerful chipset, which will make your smartphone using experience pretty fun.

5. One Plus 6T

Price: Starts at $549

This is one of my favorite phones in this list. This phone released in November 2018. This phone is big and really powerful. The screen size is 6.41 inch. It also has a Snapdragon 845 processor with the battery power of 3700 mAh. 

It has a dual camera at the back ( 20 + 16 MP ). The front camera is 16MP. The camera's of this phone isn't as good as Pixel 3 but if you compare the price then you won't notice these things.

There is also a Maclaren Special Addition 6T which has a 10 GB RAM.

4. iPhone XS

Price: Starts at $999

Apple's notched flagship iPhone is one of the most expensive phones in our list. It comes with a 5.8 inch OLED screen. The display of this phone is outstanding. The Face ID unlock system makes it the most futuristic phone Apple has ever made. It comes with an A12 bionic chip with 4GB ram, means this phone is one of the fastest phones in this list and performance of this phone is top notched.

It has a dual camera system at the back. Both are 12 MP and the front-facing camera is 7MP.

The main downside of this phone is the battery. It has only 2658 mAh battery, which is not good enough in this day of age.

3. Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Price: Starts at $1099

Another thousand dollar phone in this list. This phone was released in November 2018. Like Huawei P20 pro it has three cameras at the back. They are 40MP + 20MP + 8MP. The 40MP is the wide angle lens and the 8MP is the telephoto lens. The front-facing camera is 24MP. Yeah, you read it well, 24MP!

It has a big 6.39-inch display with Kirin 980 processor. The RAM of this phone is 8GB with 256GB storage, so you are getting some serious performance from this phone.

2. Google Pixel 3 XL

Price: Starts at $799

This is no doubt the best android phone out there. It's a flagship phone from Google. It was released in November 2018. Weight only 184g, the screen size is 6.3-inch. The QHD resolution and HDR support ensure everything looks great, but I must say the notch is a little ugly ( you can hide it though ).

You may only be getting a single camera on the rear of the Pixel 3 XL, but do not underestimate it, it has one of the best rear cameras in this list. It also has 2 front facing cameras ( 8MP + 8MP )

1. Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus

Price: Starts at $740

Yes, you read it right, according to me S9 Plus is the number 1 phone of 2018. It was released at the beginning of this year and is still the best smartphone available right now. This phone has everything, Snapdragon 845 processor with 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. So you can imagine how fast this phone is.

This phone also has a dual camera set up (12+12MP) and a front facing camera(8MP). This phone is great for capturing low light photos.

The Super AMOLED 6.2-inch display has been measured as one of the very best around right now. As you can see everything about this phone is up to the mark and it will cost you only $740.
